Mar. 03, 1966 - The Anglo-French Concorde Takes Shape: Yesterday an unusual and important road transport convoy, carrying a huge Concorde test specimen was moved through the streets of Toulouse, France. From the Sud Aviation works at Blagnac, where it had been assembled, the test specimen a centre wing/fuselage section of a Concords supersonic Airliner this test assembly is 35 ft long, 44ft wide, 11ft high, and weighs nearly 16 tons. In two years time-Spring 1968-the first prototype Concorde after final assembly and testing at Toulouse by Sud Aviation, will make its maiden flight from Toulouse. And at Filton, Bristol about six months later the second Concorde Prototype assembled by the British Aircraft Corporation, will make its maiden flight from Filton.
