1968 - Divers recover the Jet Engine of the Crashed Boeing 707 from a Gravel pit at Thorpe. The jet engine of the BOAC Boeing 707 which caught fire and crash landed at Heathrow Airport yesterday, was located by divers in a gravel pit at Thorpe, near Egham. The engine was recovered in two parts. Photo shows part of the jet engine is seen half submerged in the water of the gravel pit after after being recovered by divers today
