1968 - Fighter Command Disbandment Ceremony: There was a parade and flypast to mark the disbandment of Royal Air Force Fighter Command at Headquarters, Royal Air Force, Bentley Priory, Stanmore, Mddx, today. On April 30, R.A.F. Bomber Command to form the new R.A.F. Strike Command. The parade was reviewed by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Fighter Command, Air Marshal Sir Frederick Rosier. A flypast of a Spitfire and Hurricane coincided with the lowering of the A.O.C.-in-C's pennant.
