Feb. 02, 1968 - First Woman jet Captain; 31 year old Miss Gillian Cazalet, of Beachborough Park, Folkestone, Kent, yesterday became Britain's first woman flight captain for a commercial airline. She was told she had passed her examination ofr an Air Line transport Pilot's certificate, which means she can fly any type of aircraft from a light plane to a VC 10 jet. Gillian will shortly be promoted to become the first woman captain of a commercial airline turbo jet. She will pilot a Hawker Siddeley 748, with up to 48 passengers to France for her firm, Skyways, based at Lympne, Kent. She has been a first officer with Skyways for a year.
