Aug. 03, 1968 - A DC-8 jet aircraft, worth eight million dollars, of the Delta Air Lines, was forced to land in Havana by passenger Laurence Rhodes, a 29-year-old American citizen living in Florida. Rhodes held the crew at gunpoint with a pistol shortly after the takeoff from Tampa. The Cuban authorities are studying the application for political asylum by Rhodes.
