Sep. 06, 1970 - September 6th 1970 Hijacker shot dead when he attempted to hijack an Israeli jet on flight to New York via Amsterdam A male would be hijacker was killed and his female companion slightly injured when they tried to hijack an Israeli Boing 707 after it had left Amsterdam for New York. The plane El Al Flight 219 had left Tel Aviv early this morning via Amsterdam. It was about 45 minutes flying time out from Amsterdam, when the two hijackers tried to take over the plane the pilot of the plane banked his aircraft to throw the hijacker off balance shots were fired killing the man and injuring the women. One member of the crew was also shot. The plane landed at Heathrow Airport were the hijackers taken off with the crew and the 145 passengers none of whom were injured.
