Mar. 08, 1972 - Goodyear Airship Europa Airborne: The Goodyear Airship Europa flew forte first time today - at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Cardington, Bedfordshire, where she has been assembled by a team of technicians from the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Company. This is the first time that an airship has been seen over the English skies for over 20 years. Piloted by Richard (Dick) Widdicomba, a 53 year old American from Los Angeles, California, who is pilot-in-charge of the new airship, the Europa was taken up for the first of several test flights.
