Jul. 24, 1973 - July 24th, 1973 Hi-jacked jet blown up The hijacked Japanese jumbo jet was blown up today at Benghazi airport after the passengers and crew had been released by the hijackers. After three days in the sweltering desert heat of Dubai airport, the jet took off and landed at Damascus airport where it was refueled and then flown to Benghazi.
