Sep. 04, 1978 - Britain's New Airship Nears Completion. The first of Britain's new range of airships stand in its hangar at Cardington, Beds writing for its inaugural flight. Made by Aerospace Developments, it is a prototype and from its success orders for more than twenty have been confidently anticipated. Cost is in the half-a-million pound mark for the twin petrol engined version which is 164 feet long and has a payload of 2? tons with a top speed of 70m.p.h. Probable uses will be for coastal surveillance and aerial advertising
