Jun. 09, 1976 - Millionth export Cortina leaves Dagenham. Britain's most exported car: The Cortina achieved another record today when the millionth export model was helicoptered direct from Dagenham to a waiting customer in Belgium. It completed the fastest million ever achieved by a British car in overseas markets, taking exactly seven years and ten months since the Cortina first appeared in September 1962. To mark the occasion the car a white Cortina 1600E - was officially dispatched from Dagenham this morning by Sir John Eden, M.P. Minister of State, Ministry of Technology. Photo shows the millionth export Cortina leaving the Ford plant at Dagenham by Helicopter today on its way to a waiting customer in Belgium
