Aug. 21, 1981 - STS-2 Commander, Colonel Joe H. Engle and his son Jon prepare to hand start their WWII L-4 vintage airplane. The Engler's bought the plane in North Houston and then refurbished it to its original condition. After sending the serial number to the National Air and Space Museum, Engle managed to follow exact original detail. down to the aircraft's paint scheme. Presently, Colonel Engle is teaching his son Jon how to fly at Friendswood's Clover Field
