Jul. 07, 1959 - AIR RACE COMPETITOR HAS JACKSTAY TRANSFER FROM HELICOPTER TO EMBANKMENT-IS JUST OUTSIDE RECORD. Royal Navy competitor in the big Bleriot, Anniversary Air Race-CDR. I.H. FORSTER MARTIN, of Lossiemouth, was transferred by jackstay from helicopter to the Embankment, after the journey from Paris. His time of 43 min. 58 secs, was just outside the record.
