Jun. 17, 1959 - Thirty years ago on Sunday June 14 1929 a French plane landed on a Spanish beach in the Cornillas due to a lack of gas. The Hummingbird, which had just crossed the Atlantic from the Orchard Bird Beach in Florida with the pilots Lotti, Lefevre, and Assolant, as well as a clandestine passenger named Arthur Schreiber who slipped in the tail end of the plane right before take-off. They covered 5, 400 kilometers in 28 hours of flying time. It was a record for maritime crossings. The three men on the plane are pictured exchanging memories at a reception held for the anniversary
