Sep. 09, 1953 - Marshal Tito claims Trieste Hinterland': Marshal Tito President of Yugoslavia, proposed that the city pf Trieste be internationalized and that its hinterland the remainder of the Free Territory which is purely Yugoslav, be incorporated in Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia sees no other solution, he added, during a long speech to 250, 000 people assembled at Okroglica, only three miles from the Italian frontier. He also asked that Italy withdraw her troops from the border area. Photo shows Marshal Tito making his speech to a large crowd at Okroglica
