Oct. 10, 1954 - TRIESTE ACCORD TODAY AFTER LONDON TALKS After months of secret negotiation in London agreement has been reached on the future of Trieste. The agreement was initialled in London today by the Italian and Yugoslav Ambassadors, Signor Brosio and Mr. Velebit. It means that British and American forces which have been in Trieste since the end of the war, will be withdrawn. Zone A of the Free Territory of Trieste, including the city of Trieste, will go to Italy, with certain frontier rectifications. Zone B will go to Yugoslavia, which has occupied and administered it since the war. Trieste will become a free port, serving not only Yugoslavia but Austria.
