Mar. 03, 1969 - The ninth congress of the league of communists of Yugoslavia. The IX Congress of the LCY opened in Belgrade on March 11th. Some 1893 delegates from all over Yugoslavia are taking part in the congress sessions work, while delegates of more than 70 communist, socialist parties and other progressive movements from all over the world are also attending the event. Communist and socialist parties of Bugaria, Hungary, Czechoslowakia, German Democratic Republic, Poland and the Soviet Union had sent messages to the congress and informed that they would not send their representatives. The Congress was opend by a formal plenary session dedicated to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Yugoslav communists. Yugoslav president Tito opened the congress and delivered a speech on the significance of the 50th anniversary of YCP.
