Alexis Kanner as Hamlet, The Adams Arms, Fitzroy Square

Jan. 01, 1965 - Hamlet - With A Difference: A rehearsal took place this afternoon at The Adam's Arm - Fitzroy Square of the new style Hamlet - by an English Company - and which is to be performed in Germany. The title role Hamlet is being played by Alexis Kanner - who is made up with a white clown face. The play will run for only one hour - instead of the usual four or so hours for the normal production. Many roles have disappeared - and many lines have changed characters. The performance will be in the Festival of the Experimental Theatre at the Academie des Kunst on Jan. 20th. - when it will be televised from West Berlin. Photo shows Alexis Kanner as the new style Hamlet (L) talks over the role with Innokenty Smoktunovsky the Russian film star who stars in the Soviet film of Hamlet - and who is in London for the film now at the Academy Cinema
