Alfred Dregger, Chairman of CDU party, Germany
Ready to fight is Alfred Dregger, Chairman of the CDU in Hesse, FRG. After the FDP (Free Democratic Party) at the special party meeting on June 17th, 1978 in Floersheim decided to continue the co-operation with the SPD in Hesse also afterwards the coming elections, Dregger appealed for a more intensive combat to break the power-trust of SPD and FDP. Some time ago Dregger made several offers for a CDU/FDP coalition, but without success. Now he hopes his party, the CDU, will get more than 50% of votes in the election for the diet on October 8th 1978 in Hesse - so he would be able to govern unassisted by other parties
