Feb. 01, 1980 - February 1st: 55th Birthday Of Alfred Grosser: 55 years old on February 1st 1980 the French historian and publisher Alfred Grosser. Grosser was born in West Germany. His native town in Frankfurt-am-Main; in the year 1933 his parents had to emigrate to France. There, he became a member of the resistance movement. As an ardent European soon after the end of the second World War he started to work for an understanding between the two states. Alfred Grosser wrote for several French papers, he also was the publisher of the paper Allemagne, and also a permanent professor of the Bologna center school for advanced studies (Italy), the John Hopkins university and Stanford university, California USA. Since 1956 he is professor for politics at the University of Paris, France. His numerous books deal with the present-day politics of France and West Germany. Among the many awards which Grosser has received are the Great Federal Cross of Merit (1975), the Goethe-Medal and The pre-war prize of the German book Trade (1975)
