Alick McKay, husband of kidnapped woman, murder trial

Sep. 09, 1970 - The McKay Case Trial At The Old Bailey: Mrs. Muriel McKay, who disappeared from her Wimbledon home last December, kept the door chained and would never allow strangers into the house, her husband, Mr. Alick McKay, deputy chairman of the News of the World, said at the Old Bailey yesterday. Mr. McKay said he gave his own ring at the door that evening as usual. I have a special method - three short and one long ring. There was no reply. When he went in, the hall was in disarray and a billhook was on the floor. He picked up the billhook in case any intruders were there, and went through the hou se, calling his wife's name. Mr. McKay was the first prosecution witness to give evidence in the trial of two brothers from Trinidad, Arthur Hosein, 34, tailor's cutter, and Nizanodeen Hosein, 22, both of Rook's Farm, Stocking Pelham, Herts, who deny murdering Mrs. McKay between Dec. 29 and Feb. 7, demanding 1 million ransom and sending letters to Mr. McKay threatening to kill his wife.
