Mar. 02 Unloading American Cotton In Liverpool Docks: Liverpool is one of the main ports through which Lancashire import its raw cotton. At the Geadstone docks ships such as the U.S. ship Eugen Sykes dearth and have their Cargo unloaded the sands of bales of the raw material for the Hungary mills of the busy industrialism Hinterland of Lancashire. The bales are stacked inside enormous ware house Until they are sortd and loaded on to road or rail transport for dispatch to their ultimate destinations. Each bale is weighted on arrival as a check against the ship's manifest. this is one of a series of pictures showing the unloading of the Eugen Sykes
