Dec. 12, 1974 - Women Who Tried To Stop Armed Gang Wins Binney Medal: Shots were fired at Mrs Jessie Burns by a gunman leaning out of the geteway car when she refused to move out of its way. For her courage in attempting to delay a gang of armed robbers Mrs Burns today received a Binney Memorial Medal from the Lord Mayor Sir Murray Fox at Goldsmith's Hall. Fortunately Mrs Burns was unhurt as the gun was either a starting pistol or leaded with blanks, but at the time she did not know this. Photo shows Mrs Jessie Burns with her medal which she received from the Lord Mayor Sir Murray Fox at Goldsmith's Hall today
