Aug. 00, 1957 - Getting the Gittern: Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip will visit the Jamestown Festival, Virginia, on October 16. A highlight of the Festival is the Old World Pavilion in which the British Government has installed a ?140, 000 exhibit in an area of 6, 500 square feet. It tells the story of Jamestown's beginning 350 years ago and the history of British colonization since. Photo shows a photographer at the Old World Pavilion wanted to get a closeup of its gittern, a musical instrument presented to Queen Elizabeth I by a German suitor. He hung it on the wall to do so, but mindful of its value, Mr. Leslie Rowdon, the pavilion's manager, and his wife Snow, crouched anxiously beneath it, hands outstretched, in case it should fall. The gittern was given to the Earl of Leicester, a favorite of the queen. It subsequently passed to the Earl of Warwick and remained in Warwick Castle from the middle of the 17th century until it came to Jamestown
