Jul. 07, 1976 - Andrei Amalrik the dissident Russian Historian Arrives In Amsterdam: One of Russia's best known dissidents, the Historian Andrei Amalrik, 37, arrived in Amsterdam yesterday with his wife Gyuzel. After a long conflict with the Soviet authorities he left Russia nominally to emigrate to Israel, though neither of them is Jewish. Mr. Amalrik first became known in the West for his book Will the Soviet Union Survive Until 1984? He was sentenced to three years in a prison camp in 1970 and later exiled to the Soviet Far East.
