Sep. 09, 1980 - New Lloyd Webber Musical For West End: Cats is the title of the new musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber announced today. it will be the first West End musical by him since the award-winning Evita opened in London in June 1978. Inspired by poems both published and unpublished by Ts Eliot, including the internationally famous Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, it is scheduled to open in London in April 1981. The new show will be directed by Trevor Nunn of the Royal Shakespeare Company and choreographed by Gillian Lynne.
