Angela Rippon takes up horse racing

May 05, 1977 - Angela Rippon To Take Up Horse Racing: Angela Rippon the BBC Television newscaster -the girl of many talents -hit the road again yesterday by getting her jockey club licence for horse racing. The night before, Saturday, she was hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. She was out riding a horse called Maxi's Taxi, this is the first time she had been on a racehorse which is classed in the form books as a suitable mount for an apprentice. On May 17th at Goodwood Angela will race against Show-Jumper Debbie Johnsey of Olympic fame in the first round of a competition organized by a perfume company.
