1958 - One Cub dies after twins born to Lioness at Whipsnade Zoo: One of a pair of cubs born to lioness Jean a week ago at the Whipsnade Zoo has died. Yesterday, watched by the father, nb, she still carried the dead cub about the pen, stopping now and then to lies as if to try to revive it.
