Animals - Aquariums - Archeology - Insects - Fossils - Zoos

1968 - Who draws who at the zoo: Sally takes to art. Art students are given every encouragement at the Zoo. Most popular subjects for the regular students are the chimps, and 6 1/2 year old Sally is completely vain about her modelling. When 18 year old Marion Latter, of the Hornsey Art School was half-way through a portrait of her, Sally decided that the positions should be reversed. After impatiently trying to make a likeness of Marion and only producing a mass of lines, Marion helped her and left Sally to finish off the picture with great pride and care. Sally the chimp turns the tables and becomes an artist: Furious that his own efforts don match those of art student Marion Latter, Sally thinks that bot hand and feet may help to improve matters. But only lines result. (Credit Image: (c) Keystone Pictures USA/ZUMAPRESS.com/Mary Evans)
