Aug. 08, 1953 - A Bedroom Is Reserved For Her Stray Dogs. Miss Kate Ward came back from taking her seven dogs and eight strays for a four-mile walk. For the 58-year-old £5-a-week charwoman just loves dogs. She even has a bedroom reserved for stray dogs in her cottage at York Town, Surrey. She started looking after them after leaving her job as a cook in the officers mess at nearby Camberley. Now she cleans the quarters in the mornings and looks after her dogs for the rest of the day.
