Nov. 19, 1953 - Tenants Risk All To Save Their Pets: More than 100 residents of a block of council flats, yesterday defied an order to give up their pets mostly cats - or face eviction. Yesterday was the deadline for carrying out the order, but children wept their mothers rebelled. So when a van of the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals drove up to Bower and Domelton House, Wandsworth, S.W. excepting to go off with a load of cats. dogs and canaries, they went away with One cat. Most of the tenants said they would defy the council and some of the children threatened to go on a scroll strike if the order goes through.
