Feb. 02, 1953 - 5, 000 sheep die on the isle of sheppey. a sound bed of dead sheet and cattle. Army personnel were busily at work today on Operation livestock - on the Isle of Sheppey rescuing sheep - bullocks etc. trapped in the floods, it is estimated that over 5, 000 sheep are already dead. Photo shows Mr. Andrew Barrie- seen with his two sheepdogs Mike and Jerry as they search for his sheep. Mr. Barrie had lost 348 sheep - and under the mass of grass and seweed is a bed of sheep and cattle who perished in the floods
