Jul. 07, 1953 - Keep on smiling this 60 cm tall haniwa; clay statue, found in miyazaki (southern japan) has been smiling since the 5th century b.c. the reason for one of histories longest smiles we might never know, but foreign visitors to a current exhibition of artifacts from ancient japan at Tokyo's hyokeikan gallery found the smile nevertheless hard to resist and also a welcome break from the steady declining value of the dollar and the ongoing rainy season in the land of the rising yen
