Oct. 10, 1954 - Cheetah Goes Overboard While On Its Way To England: A Cheetah had left of the ship for a swim, came ashore at Victoria dock, London. today. He has to be rescued by lifeboat when he jumped overboard from the Union Castle liner Tintagel Castle two days out from Port Said. He was tethered top the rail while his cage was cleaned. He jumped on to the rail to get a better look, but his roped, and he fell overboard. A lifeboat was lowed, and after 30 minutes swimming happily in the water, he was rescued none the worse for his adventure. Kibu, the Cheetah, was among 26 animals coming from East Africa to British zoos. Photo Shows Just before he jumped overboard Kibu is seen tethered to the rail of the ship
