Sep. 09, 1955 - Saved From Slaughter- Fanny Is Proud Mother: Fanny the First, a brown Irish donkey, came to England in 1954 with a batch of donkeys for slaughter. She was saved by the Horse and Ponies Protection Association. Now stabled at the Shurbridge Stud Farm, Sidlow, near Reigata. Fanny has given birth to a foal, Surrey (because he has a fringe on top).
