1957 - CHEETAH GOES OVERBOARD WHILE ON ITS WAY TO ENGLAND A cheetah that left the ship for a swim Game ashore at Victoria dock, London, today. He had to be rescued by lifeboat when he jumped overboard from the Union Castle liner Tintagel Castle two days out from Port Said. He was tethered to the rail while his cage was cleaned. He jumped on to the rail to get a better look, but his rope snapped, and he fell overboard. A lifeboat was lowered, and after 30 minutes swimming happily in the water, he was rescued one the worse for his adventure. KIBU, the cheetah, was among 26 animals coming from East Africa to British zoos. Photo Shows:- KIBU, the cheetah, is hauled aboard the lifeboat that went to his rescue
