Jan. 01, 1959 - New inhabitant of the Frankfurt zoo: The Frankfurt zoo has a new inhabitant, the family tree of which goes back till to the time of the giantess. It is a Komodo-Waran from Indonesia. It had been not to easy to get the 2, 50 meters long animal, because the Indonesian government put a severe control for export on these animals to prevent a complete destruction of this kind only living on the rocky-island Komodo. The animal can reach a length of 4-5- meters
