Kamalchsi tries out a new-type tent: The Services, campers, circuses, government departments responsible for setting up camps for displaced persons or people otherwise homeless, are interested in a revolutionary tent which was on shows at the National Boat Show. Designed by a former colonel of the Royal Engineers, it can be set up in three minutes, is proof against all weather conditions, is portable, warm, not inflammable, draught-proof. The supports are inflatable, and the air for them cones from a tiny compressor supplied with the tent which can be clipped on to any car engine's electrical equipment; or it can be blown up by a foot pump. The tent size demonstrated is 30 ft by 19 feet by 9 feet, and provides sleeping rrom for 30. A conventional canvas tent with poles and guy ropes would take 45 minutes to erect. The Numax tent weighs only 160 lbs compared with a conventional tent's weight of 1600 lbs
