The Swan that fought a train - she tried to save her cygnet.: The bravest other they have known, that's what the R.S.C.P.A.at Ipswich thinks of Delilah - the swan who fought a train. She was leading her seven cygnet - all in line - across the railway track at Baylham when she turned in time to see the seventh in the path of an incoming train. She turned in time to see it killed. The swan's left wing was smashed by the train and had to be amputated. But even the saddest stories often have happy endings and this one does. Delilah and her six cygnets have now been given a quiet and tranquil pond all to themselves by the R.S.C.P.A. in a quiet corner of Ipswich. Delialh has fully recovered and although she only has one wing now, she is happy in her new home safe from the menace of the railway lines and engines. Delilah and her brood can now swim about happily in the safe pond given them by the R.S.P.C.A. at Ipswich, safe from such dangers as trains
