Feb. 26 Getting the bear essentials - When it comes to feeding time, the animals at the Basle Zoo can't complain, but if you want something special, well, then you have to get it yourself! TANA, the two-year-old female bear, has developed her own self-service, very seldom seen in other bears. She has taught herself to use a long stick to fetch leaves from a maple tree. But all her friends can do is watch with envy, as they still can't get the knack of it. With all the shortages lately, it could be a very valuable knack to have! - The fruits of their labours; Tana and her father eat the maple leaves that she has fetched with her stick
