Nov. 16, 1959 - The Zoo's 6ft. 8 Ins. Baby: The female Giraffe born to Grumpy and her mate Goofy on November 1st, was on view at the London Zoo for the first time today. She has been named Mary by the Head Keeper in charge of Giraffes, Mr. George Robinson, who is a great admirer of Mary Bignall, the athlete who has been chosen sportswoman of the year by the Sport Writers Association. At birth Mary stood six foot two inches and she is growing fast: she now measures 6 8'. Photo shows Mary, the baby giraffe pictured at the Zoo today with her mother Grumpy
