Feb. 29 What funny looking things says Frances as she sees the penguins for the first time, and the penguins seem to think France a bit odd too. Frances The Pygmy Donkey: Frances, the pygmy donkey is the latest arrival at Whipsnade Zoo. She is just three weeks old and is the daughter of Jackland Jennie, pygmy donkeys from Ceylon. The Superintendent of Ethipsnade chose Jacko and Jennie as the smallest donkeys offered so if Frances develops to form she will be a tiny totall her life. Her parents are about the size of a New found-land dog. Pygmy donkeys are used as beasts of burden in some parts of Asia and have a reputation for being strong and spirited
