Mar. 22 INTRODUCING THE WORLD'S FIRST LEOPONS'..'MADE IN JAPAN'.For the first time in the world - the keepers at the Hanshin Park Zoo, near Osaka - Japan have succeeded in mating a Leopard and a Lioness - and two Leopard - lions have been born - known as Leopons'. Previously Lions and Tigers have been mated - to produce Ligers, a Lioness and a tiger, producing Tigons and there has been a lion and a Leopardess union with the production of Lipards'..The Leopard named Koshio is 4 years 9 months old and came from Hagenbach Menageric - Germany - while Sonoko the lioness, almost the same age was born at the Osaka Zoo.The two cubs - born on Nov 2nd, are 4 kilos each in weight, with faces like lions and bodies spotted like leopards..Before the mating the parents were injected with hormones
