Mar. 31 Now it's the Americanization of Susie.: This rare and touching study reveals the tender relationship shared by two simple, vivacious hearts a boy and his cherished chimpanzee friend. Seperated by thousands of miles from its natural home and family in Sierra Leone, the chimp recently immigrated to America. Adopted by Peace Corps worker Merrick Lockwood while serving overseas, the chimp called Susie is already reported to have made friends with half the New England town and stolen the hearts of all the children in the neighbourhood. One of Susie's greatest playmates is 8-year-old Paul Opuda. Inseperable friends, they spend most of their spare time together climbing trees, and in general just apeing around.
