Mar. 27 Chimps Can Have Stripes Too ! Fred the Chimp felt a little drab this morning, he brushed his scant and wispy brown baby hair bit it wasn't any good - he didn't look half so fine as his friend; Bengal the baby Tiger. Oh !.. Why can't Chimps have stripes ? he lamented. Then he had a brain-wave, and five minutes later after raiding the Cawley's children's bedroom, he appeared looking very dapper indeed. Fred hadn't reckoned with Bengal's reaction though, Bengal was secretly proud of his stripes and was frankly needled by Fred's false guise - How dare he ! the impudence I'll teach him, if he wants to look like a Tiger he can play like a Tiger; There followed a wonderful fine fight ! Fred is 15 months old and Bengal is 5 months old, they both live in the home of Roger Cawley*, who manages Longleat Wildlife Park, in Wiltshire. Fred was orphaned by his mother and is now the playmate of the Cawley children. * and his wife Mary Chipperfield of the famous circus. Fred the Chimp hugs his blanket like Paddington bear, as Bengal approaches to investigate the Striped Chimp
