Apr. 17 Benjie's Birthday: Nobody at London Zoo thought that Benjie would still be alive to celebrate his first birthday. His mother died when Benjie, a baby monkey was just eight months old and the little chimps was so disturbed at the loss of this mother that he stopped eating. It was only the love and affection of zoo keeper Peter Dilingham that brought Benjie back to life as a healthy young monkey. To celebrate Benjie's birthday these was a special fruit cake which both Peter and Benjie ate with relish
