Apr. 17 A Kangaroo Ko's a former boxing champion: Ex-boxing champion Freddie Mills yesterday came out of retirement to box exhibition matches with a kid gloved kangaroo, and was knocked down for the count. It happened at a rehearsal of the Bertram Mills Circus, which opens at Olympia next month. Freddie was floored in the first few minutes, all because it seems that nobody had explained to George the Kangaroo, the Marquis of Queensberry rules. After a couple of minutes sizing each other up, George leaned back on his tail, bounced forward, and delivered a mighty blow to the body with his shoulder. Freddie went down in a heap and George fell on top of him. Said an embarassed Freddie afterwards: I'll never live this down. Almost being KO'd by a Kangaroo.
