Mar. 31 This is My Baby: The first elephant to be born alive in Britain is at Chester Zoo where it is being Cossetted not only by its mother by the other elephants in the compound. Chester is one of the only zoos in world where all elephants go unshackled, which unfortunately led to the death of the baby's father last year when Nobby, a stroppy adult on musth (when elephant go beserk) had to be shot when he escaped. The baby so far is placid, amenable and obedient, and mum is like all females to her he is the world's best baby
