The three Dachshunds are on leads and the two Pekes ride in a wheeled contraption she had specially made for them. Pekes and Ducks are just one happy family: When a little boy brought Mrs. Jerome of East Molesey two tiny Mallard ducklings he had found abandoned by the river, she didn't know quite what to do for already she had a large black cat, some Dachshund dogs and two Pekes, and the probably fate of the ducklings seemed ominous. However, she kept them, reared them and they soon settled down and now contrary to all the rules of nature the dogs and the cat never harm the little ducklings, in fact they are all firms friends. Being uncertain of their sex, Mrs. Jerome named the ducklings Harriet and Henrietta, names she can easily change if she has guessed wrongly
