Mar. 31 Rare Koala twins, in Australia: Mary, an 8 year old Koala, seen showing off her twin Koalas. The twins, as yet unnamed, are the first to be born at Yanchep National Park Reserve, about 40 miles north of Perth and are considered a rarity in Australia. Mary, who was also born at Yanchep, has had two previous Koala babies. The twins are 9 months old and came out of their mother's pouch for the first time last week. Yanchep National Park Reserve superintendent Mr. John Dale said: One was reluctant to come out of his mother's pouch. He had the best position and wasn't anxious to give it away'. Mr. Dale said the incubation period for Koalas was between 30-35 days and they normally stayed in the pouch at least 8 months. The father? He is unknown as Mr. Dale explained, Koalas are polygamous
