Aug. 08, 1962 - Second Okapi born in the Frankfurt Zoo: For the second time in two years an okapi was born in the Frankfurt Zoo. They are the only ones in Germany. The Okapis are a kind of animal which only 1900 were discovered. They live in the Congo-jungles. The parent Okapis were brought to Frankfurt in 1954 and 1958.
